Dr. Dennis Downey and Julie Downey have owned and operated this family business for over 23 years. They have developed an unprecedented collection of international artists unrivaled in the Southwest. With two locations and over 5,000 square feet, the gallery represents more than 40 artists, including painters such as Russian master Nikolai Blokhin, along with a large number of newly acquired works from the great plein air painter Andre Shirokov. World renowned Spanish painter Roman Frances and newly acquired Italian realist Licio Passon are both colorful and exciting. Both depict scenes from their homelands, Spain and Venice, respectively. Dennis Downey, a well respected artist in his own right, paints scenes from the West as well as his travels throughout Europe.
The gallery also represents a collection of fine bronzes by nationally know artists James-Menzel Joseph, Sandra Filippucci and Leroy Transfield. This year the gallery is proud to introduce our emerging artist portfolio with special recognition to JuLee Simmons, Manuel Nunez, David Felix and Richard Capell.
In addition to this fine collection, the gallery is proud to be the exclusive New Mexico representative of international award winning artist Nikolai Blokhin and was honored to host the North American premiere of Blokhin at the Taos Museum in June 2008.
The Downey Gallery also is honored to announce international award winning painter Natasha Milashevich, whose Santa Fe premier will take place the summer of 2008.
